Keep it simple
I'd rather write boring, readable code than clever code. Future me, and anyone else who touches it, should understand it without a map.

Fix it properly
Patches that paper over bugs create more work later. I take the time to find the real cause and leave the codebase healthier than I found it.

Ship, then improve
A working product in users' hands beats a perfect one in progress. I get the valuable version out, then tighten performance and polish from there.
